bullet  General Notes:

In the 1941 Census, John appears to be working on a farm at either Carbourn or more unlikely Denholm.

On the birth Certificate of his daughter Sarah Ann in 1853 his occupation was Husbandman.

In the 1861 Census, John was 35 and his name was misspelled as Brockelsby and his occupation was Farmer's Labourer. They were living in Farr Street Bishop Norton and the number of the schedule was 30. At this time they had their family with them up to Elizabeth who was 2 years old. This is how we deduce the children and their approximate ages other than for Sarah Ann whose birth certificate we have obtained.
In this survey a couple William and Ann Brockelsby (also presumably Brocklesby) was living nearby in Farr Street with a schedule of 32 and they were married and were 70 and 65 years old respectively. This could be his father and mother. This does not appear to be the case according to Jean Margaret Copley of Genes United. This is probably William Brocklesby abt 1790 - abt 1868 and Ann Marshall abt 1795 - 1866 who do not appear to be his parents although there is an appropriate gap in their children.

In 1897, there is a report of John Brocklesby's death in Caistor Lincolnshire at an age of 71 giving the correct birth date of abt 1826. Vol 7a page 395. However there is a second report in 1884 of a death in Caistor Lincolnshire at an age of 59 giving the birth date of abt 1825. Vol 7a page 417.
