Looking through the Cornelian Bay Cemetery Records the only John Kelly born in 1831 was buried in The Roman Catholic section on 21 July 1885 aged 54 Record No 1B 5396 with last place of residence Hobart. In the Tasmanian BDM records he died 18 July 1885 in Hobart aged 53 yrs.

As his wife was buried in the C of E section it is unlikely to be him although his son was buried in the RC section.

John married Caroline Jane WALLINGTON, daughter of Samuel WALLINGTON and Ann Marie KITSON, on 7 Sep 1858 in Hobart, Tasmania. (Caroline Jane WALLINGTON was born on 13 Feb 1834 in England, died on 11 Sep 1904 in Hobart, Tasmania and was buried on 14 Sep 1904 in Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Hobart, Tas.)
