General Notes:
My father's father, my grandfather, David, whom I knew well, was born on 5 April 1800, he married Catherine Jones, grandmother who died in Wales leaving a family of 7 sons and 1 daughter, the children's names being : Thomas, John, David, Willaim (my father), Evan, Joseph, Richard, and Mary (Mrs. Isaac Hopkins). Of Aunt Mary I would say she had a lovely nature and was a good woman. Uncle Evan was killed in a Coal Mine in South Wales when a young man, the other sons and daughter came to Australia and I knew them well. My Grandfather died in Ballarat in 1895 at the ripe age of 94 years and 11 months. ##

David Morgan of the parish of Llantrisant, Batchelor, married Catherine Jones of the parish of Coity, spinster, on the 31st October 1823. Witnesses were Thomas Jones and Jenkin Williams. The minister was Henty Philips.
Occupation 1841 Collier Residence 1851 Lower Coity
His occupation in Wales was a shoemaker.
He arrived in Australia 29th August 1857 on the "Dragoon" at Victoria with his son David (1827)
His death certificate states that six of his sons and one daughter came out to Australia where he lived for 38 years.# He was as a bootmaker in Wales
According to the 1851 Census he married an Ann and was with his two sons Joseph 14 yrs and Richard 13 yrs.
In Ballarat he was a Labourer in 1895
Died in Ballarat aged 95 and was 38 years in Vic at that time indicating he migrated to Australia in 1857. He had 18 children according to his death certificate.
He is buried in the Old Cemetery Ballarat, section 2DN number 11 ( an unmarked grave) with 5 grand/great children.
